The photography of Ray Pride is currently being showcased at Dovetail through the end of October. His exhibit "Far. and Near" is two shows - "Far." at Myopic Books in Wicker Park, and "Near" at Dovetail through November 5th.
Ahoy! Do your aesthetic prefernces lean toward nautical themes? Do you find yourself yelling "Land Ho" when exiting the el? Do you keep a cutlass hidden under your bed? If you answered "yes" to any of the questions above, then Dovetail Chicago has the lamp for you!
This amazing ceramic Viking Ship tv lamp is sure to please seafarers and landloafers alike. TV lamps were invented in the 1950s as home television sets gained increasing popularity. These decorative, ceramic, sculptural lamps were placed on top of televisions to provide ambient lighting while watching television in the dark at home.
This viking ship lamp depicts a ship sailing in rough waters, with waves spashing against it. It looks great during the day as well as in the dark. A perfect example of functional art, this viking ship lamp is sure to be salvaged when the time comes to throw the rest of your flotsam and jetsam overboard.

Guys are always saying that they read Playboy for the articles and I never believed them, that is, until Dovetail acquired a small collection of vintage Playboy magazines from the early 1970s. Not only do they have well-written articles with prominet artists (Jane Birken, Salvador Dali, Stanley Kubrik) but they also have some amazing (and sometimes hilarious) print ads. We've included some of our favorites below. These would be great inspiration for art projects, photograpy, or fashion styling.
Fresh from Atlanta, Georgia! Jennifer's lovely mom Lorretta found us four amazing pairs of Rayban glasses from the 80s. They're all in mint condition. Plastic optician lenses, which means you can choose whether to get prescription lenses or sunglasses. Here, Jennifer, Jack, Al, Chris, and Julie have modeled them for your viewing pleasure. Only $38 per pair. Get them while they're here!
Here at Dovetail Chicago, We have a lot of fantastic spring items this year! So much to photograph but we have to start somewhere...and I think jewelry is just the place to start.
Givenchy costume jewelry set: necklace, clip earrings (which could easily be converted into posts), and a brooch. Great silvertone and goldtone fish scale detail. Beautiful, affordable designer set.
This pocket watch chain makes for an interesting necklace with it's perfect balance of delicate beauty and hardware.
If you're feeling Nautical, this sailboat pin is perfect! And if it's getting too windy out there on the lake, feel safe with the anchor necklace.
What's more magical than this sweet little horse pin? Absolutely nothing! Sterling silver and rhinestones.
This scotty dog pin doubles as a perfume bottle (or teeny tiny flask). Who can resist the dog/bow combo?
One of our favorites here at Dovetail is this crazy, over-the-top statement necklace. This would look great on a simple solid dress or a racerback tank and jeans. Absolutely stunning.
And of course, some fun color accent pieces:
